Nottingham Forest weren’t able to add to their attacking options on Deadline Day.

Sabri Lamouchi expressed his desire to add another striker to his squad before the transfer window slammed shut. However, although two new faces arrived, a striker remained elusive.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post about the difficulty the club faced, he said: “It was so hard and difficult.

“The club tried, they looked at many options and talked with many players. It was not easy.”

The Reds do still have the option to explore the free agent market. Surprisingly, there are still a number of quality players who are yet to find a club.

One of these is ex-Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper.

The 31-year-old is without a club after being released by the Owls at the end of last season. He would be available for nothing if Lamouchi wanted to bring him to the City Ground to help his other forwards.

If it wasn’t for the striker’s recent injury woes, there’s little chance the striker would’ve found himself in this position. He made just six appearances for the Owls last season after he underwent groin surgery late last year.

Expensive

Hooper made 89 appearances for the Owls in all competitions over a three-and-a-half-year spell at Hillsborough. He managed to find the back of the net 31 times during that time.

He has also previously played in the Championship with Southend United, Scunthorpe United and Norwich City. It’s difficult to argue with his goalscoring record at this level.

One of the major stumbling blocks with any potential deal for the striker could be his wages.

According to the Daily Record, the 31-year-old was on £32,000-a-week when he originally joined the Owls on loan from Norwich. This may have risen even further when he joined the club permanently.

With just Lewis Grabban and Rafa Mir in Lamouchi’s plans for this season, some Nottingham Forest fans have been calling for the 31-year-old. Here’s what they’ve been saying on social media…
