Nottingham Forest 3 Derby 0: 400 and counting for Reds in silencing of the Rams

It is now 400 minutes and counting since Nottingham Forest last conceded a goal against arch-rivals Derby County.

October 15, 2017 – the last time the Rams breached the Reds.

Since then, the best part of four-and-a-half games have come and gone.

Three of those have been at the fortress City Ground.

With an impressive record extended during a convincing 3-0 Carabao Cup win on Tuesday.

Home field advantage obviously has its perks.

A loyal fan base have, certainly in recent outings, helped to roar Derby back and Forest to victory.

There has been plenty to shout about.

Target

Back-to-back goalless draws were taken in after the Rams last managed to find the target.

The Reds have recorded four efforts without reply across the last two meetings.

David Nugent was the last man to pick their lock.

His strike arrived in the 50th minute of the aforementioned clash from 2017.

Forest and their supporters have found a serious solution at the back since picking that ball out of the net.

Changes aplenty have been made in the dugout and on the field.

It doesn’t seem to matter, though, who is calling the shots or following those instructions.

Derby just can’t find a way through.

Smiles

Which is enough to put smiles on plenty of faces.

The Brian Clough Trophy was returned to the City Ground in February, and will remain there until at least November.

The Rams will be back on Trentside in late autumn.

They have only managed two goals in their last five visits – with both of those coming in the same game back in March 2017.

And they didn’t even win that!

A proud run will be ended at some point.

Everyone needs to make peace with that fact.

For now, though, we can all revel in another success, clean sheet and securing of bragging rights over those from down the road who have gone almost two years with no counter argument.
