Liam Bridcutt has departed Nottingham Forest to join Bolton Wanderers on loan until January, the club’s official website has confirmed

The Reds have published a short statement which reads: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that midfielder Liam Bridcutt has joined Bolton Wanderers on loan.

“Bridcutt has made 31 appearances for the Reds since arriving in August 2017 and now joins up with Keith Hill’s side until January.

“The club would like to wish Liam the best of luck for his loan spell.”

Similarly to Gboly Ariyibi’s recent departure, it isn’t surprising to see the 30-year-old midfielder leave the City Ground.

Having arrived from Leeds United for £1 million over two years ago, he’ll be disappointed with how things have gone. He would’ve hoped to have made significantly more than 31 appearances for the Reds.

The 30-year-old hasn’t made an appearance for the Reds since 30 October 2018. This came in the 3-2 defeat against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium in the Carabao Cup.

Bridcutt had made a promising start to his career on Trentside under the management of Mark Warburton. He was ever-present in the starting line-up until Aitor Karanka took over.

He soon fell out of favour under the management of the Spaniard, and hasn’t been able to recover since.

Sabri Lamouchi told a number of players that they wouldn’t be part of his plans for this season in the summer. Bridcutt was one of those players.

Jamie Ward was part of the previous ‘bomb squad’ which was a group of players told by Karanka they had no future at the City Ground. The same seems to have happened this season, but perhaps on a more sizeable scale.

There are still a number of players in the squad who don’t have a chance of playing this season.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see a few more leave before today’s deadline slams shut.
