Apostolos Vellios scored his first goal for Atromitos last night, following his departure from Nottingham Forest this summer.
According to a report from Gazzetta, the 27-year-old became the Super League One side’s highest paid player following his move from the City Ground.
The Greek Super League One only got underway last weekend. However, before the league got underway, Vellios had already made four appearances for his new club in the Europa League.

The former Nottingham Forest outcast opened his account for Atromitos last night in a 2-2 draw against PAS Lamia 1964. It’s fair to say that he did so in style.
The 27-year-old equalised with around 10 minutes remaining at the Lamia Municipal Stadium. This came just two minutes after Thuram had restored the home side’s advantage.
Vellios had previously signed for Forest in 2016 from Iraklis Thessaloniki for £1 million, according to BBC Sport. However, he never quite lived up to expectation during his time on Trentside.

The target man only managed to find the back of the net eight times in 45 appearances for the Reds. He struggled to adapt to the demands of the Championship, which ultimately led to him falling out of favour.
That being said, he did have an eye for a spectacular goal.
He netted his first goal for the Reds with a 25-yard strike in a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa Park. He followed this up with an overhead kick against Rotherham United just a few days later.

Therefore, it’s perhaps no surprise that he has already produced a contender for Goal of the Season at his new club.
