Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Reds under the management of Sabri Lamouchi due to injury.
The 21-year-old hasn’t featured the Reds since the first two games of pre-season against Alfreton Town and Dundee. This gave Lamouchi just two games to take a look at him before his injury had to be addressed.
Yates was feeling some pain at the start of pre-season which led to him having to have an operation on his knee.
Speaking in mid-July after a 3-0 defeat to Olympiakos, Lamouchi was hopeful about the situation. He told the Nottingham Post: “Ryan has had an operation on his knee on Monday.
“He will be back with us after, I hope, less than six or seven weeks. No more.”
Since then, over seven weeks have passed, but it does seem as though the midfielder has caught a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel.
Lamouchi has not confirmed exactly when he expects the midfielder to return, but this post suggests he is edging closer to fitness.

It’s fair to say that the academy graduate faces a huge battle to get back into the starting line-up on his return.
Having featured regularly under the management of Martin O’Neill in the latter stages of last season, that could prove to be frustrating.
Lamouchi has bolstered the club’s midfield options significantly since then though. The likes of John Bostock, Alfa Semedo, Samba Sow and Tiago Silva have all arrived at the City Ground.
Yates will have to take his opportunity when it arises if he is to get back into the side.
The Reds are next in action in just over a week’s time against Swansea City, but it seems unlikely that Yates will be available for that match.
