Nottingham Forest picked up their first win of the season in the Championship as they beat Birmingham City 3-0 at the City Ground last month.

The Reds claimed all three points courtesy of goals from Joe Lolley, Lewis Grabban and Michael Dawson.

In truth, Sabri Lamouchi’s team were never threatened by Pep Clotet’s toothless team and on another day the Reds might have scored even more goals.

One player who has an exceptional record against the Blues throughout his career is Lolley. As a boyhood Aston Villa supporter, the 27-year-old winger always enjoys scoring against Birmingham.

Lolley has scored five goals against the Blues in nine appearances against them in the Championship. He opened the scoring in this game with a rasping strike from 25-yards out, before assisting Grabban’s goal with a superb cross soon after.

Lamouchi’s side are currently enjoying a two-week break from competitive action over the international break. The squad took part in a media content day towards the end of last week.

As part of this, Lolley and Dawson were asked by the club’s official media team to commentate over the win against Birmingham from a few weeks ago.

Lolley sought to point out his goalscoring record against the Blues, and goalkeeper Lee Camp in particular.

Commentating over his goal, the winger said: “He gives me three goals a year Lee does. Thank you.

“Even the best goalkeeper in the world isn’t saving that.”

Dawson responded by saying: “I think from that kind of distance Lee Camp will be disappointed to not keep it out of the net.”

It’s fair to say that the 35-year-old goalkeeper is probably sick of the sight of the winger by now.

Lolley will be hoping to get the better of him again when the Reds travel to St Andrew’s in February 2020.

In the meantime, he’ll be focussing on Forest’s upcoming trip to league leaders Swansea City next weekend.
