Nottingham Forest secured back-to-back wins in the Championship for the first time this season against Barnsley yesterday. Ben Watson’s strike was enough to secure all three points.

The Reds secured an impressive win against Swansea City last weekend, and they were able to back that up with another three points at the City Ground. They are now unbeaten in nine games in all competitions. They haven’t lost since their opening day defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

The Reds weren’t at their best against Barnsley, and struggled to create as many chances as they did against Swansea. Eventually, they did manage to find their way through to earn another valuable three points.

Here at Seat Pitch we looked at the performance of the players and marked their displays out of 10:

Brice Samba – 9 – Seat Pitch Star Man

The big Frenchman made a number of vital saves throughout the game. He already looks like he could be one of the best goalkeepers in the division.

Matty Cash – 7

He was heavily involved in the winning goal as he bombed down the right-hand side before picking out Watson to fire home.

Michael Dawson – 8

The Reds defender once again produced another solid performance. He made one goal-saving block late on to ensure the Reds came away with all three points.

Joe Worrall – 8

Looked equally as solid alongside Dawson once again. He seems to have improved considerably from his time at Rangers and looks far more comfortable than he did previously.

Yuri Ribeiro – 7

Couldn’t quite reach the standard of performance that he did at Swansea. However, he’s still adapting to life in the Championship. He certainly offers strong competition to Jack Robinson.

Ben Watson – 8

Another impressive performance from the 34-year-old midfielder. Scored his first goal for the club as he fired home into the top right-hand corner.

Samba Sow – 7

Similarly to Ribeiro, he didn’t perform as well as he did against Swansea. That being said, he still did a good job of keeping things tidy in midfield.

João Carvalho – 6

Will be pleased to get another 70 minutes of football under his belt. Produced a couple of moments of magic but visibly tired before he was taken off.

Joe Lolley – 6

Still hasn’t reached the heights of last season. Struggled to make much of an impact in the game.

Tiago Silva – 6

Similarly to Lolley, Silva struggled to make much of an impact in the game. However, he never stopped working for the team, and he was involved in the lead up to the goal by hurrying the visitors in possession.

Lewis Grabban – 6

Wasn’t able to add to his tally, despite being presented with a few big chances in the first half. Apart from that, didn’t have much service to work with.

Albert Adomah (Silva, 58) – 6

Struggled to create much following his introduction, but did almost create one opportunity for Grabban.

Sammy Ameobi (Carvalho, 69) – 6

Added some extra physicality and height to the side to help the Reds see the game out for the three points.

Alfa Semedo (Lolley, 80) – 6

Provided some extra energy in the final few minutes.
