Nottingham Forest could make a move for ex-Crystal Palace and Watford winger Randell Williams in January, according to TEAMtalk

The 22-year-old began his career at Tottenham Hotspur before joining Crystal Palace in January 2016. He left the Eagles at the end of that season and opted to join Premier League rivals Watford.

However, having failed to make a first team appearance in the Premier League, he moved to Exeter City on a free transfer earlier this year.

Since then, he’s been playing more regular first team football and has impressed with his performances. He has already made seven appearances for the Grecians in League Two this season, contributing with two goals and three assists.

The 22-year-old does have previous experience of playing in the Football League. He went on loan to Wycombe Wanderers on two separate occasions during his time at Watford. That being said, he does seem to have taken his game to a new level this season.

According to TEAMtalk, the Reds aren’t the only Championship side interested in securing his signature in a few months. Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield Town are also understood to be interested.

Promising

There’s no doubt that the winger has played a key role in the impressive start to the season that Exeter have made. They are currently sat top of League Two, having won six out of their opening 10 games, losing just once.

It does seem slightly surprising that Sabri Lamouchi would be looking to add another winger to his squad in January. As it stands, adding a striker would surely be the main priority.

Lamouchi already has the likes of Joe Lolley, Sammy Ameobi, Albert Adomah and Matty Cash as wide options. Both Tiago Silva and João Carvalho have also shown that they can play in that position.

However, Williams certainly seems to be a promising player and may be worth investing in. The Reds did lose Arvin Appiah in the summer as he left for around £8 million.

Williams may be able to fill the slight void left in the squad by Appiah’s departure.
