European Cup-winning Nottingham Forest legend Colin Barrett has heaped praise on five of the club’s summer signings.

Forest landed 12 new additions during the transfer window and several of them have come up trumps for Sabri Lamouchi so far this season.

Five new additions drew special praise from Barrett during an exclusive interview with Seat Pitch.

He said: “Brice Samba in goal has been magnificent, he looks really assured and solid.

“The boy Samba Sow in the middle puts himself about and has the bit of quality that was perhaps lacking last season. (Tiago) Silva has done alright too, although there is perhaps a little bit more to come from him.

“Then you’ve got Sammy Ameobi and Albert Adomah. They’re both looked like good acquisitions. As seasoned professionals with bags of experience, they both look like they have plenty to offer.”

Boss Lamouchi is slowly but surely discovering what his very best starting XI is and he has on occasions not been afraid to leave out star players.

Strength in depth

Joe Lolley and Joao Carvalho have both been benched for league games this season and with the Reds unbeaten in 10 games it perhaps speaks volumes of the quality with the squad.

Injuries and suspensions have crippled Forest in recent years but after 11 games of this campaign; it’s fair to suggest that the Reds do boast more strength in depth this season.

Forest have also found value to be had in the European market. Goalkeeper Samba, for example, cost just £1.9 million (Nottinghamshire Live).

Lamouchi appears to have found a winning formula and the supporters will hope he can continue in such a rich vein of form.

Forest are desperate for promotion to the top-flight and the summer arrivals look like being pivotal during the 2019/20 campaign.
