Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has been named as the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for September.

The Reds were the only side in the second tier to win every game during the second month of the campaign. Lamouchi oversaw brilliant victories against Swansea City, Barnsley and Stoke City, sitting top of the division for a short period after the game against the Potters.

It caps a remarkable first two months in English football for the ex-Rennes incumbent and it the perfect reward for a somewhat unexpected start to the campaign.

Forest added 12 new players to their squad during the summer and it was anticipated that a settling in period might be required. A large number of the new recruits have arrived from overseas and it was thought they may need time to adapt to the league.

After losing on the opening weekend of the campaign, Forest have gone 10 games without tasting defeat and will now head to Wigan in high spirits after the international break.

It is the first time in over six years a Forest boss has been awarded the Manager of the Month accolade. The last time a Reds boss claimed the title was back in 2013 when Billy Davies oversaw six successive wins during his second spell in charge.

The typically grounded Lamouchi won’t appreciate too much fuss regarding the award but that hasn’t stopped fans congratulating him.

Here is a selection of tweets from the club’s supporters in response to the Forest boss claiming the monthly award:
