Former Nottingham Forest fan favourite Andy Reid has made a promotion prediction to Team Talk that Reds supporters will probably love.
He was on the show last night alongside host Iain Chambers and ex-Forest caretaker boss Charlier McParland and the subject turned towards the club’s impressive start to the campaign.
Reid is a Reds legend to fans of a certain age, making 290 appearances spread across two different spells at the City Ground.

He believes that Forest will win promotion as long as they are still among the chasing pack by the time a pivotal Christmas period has been and gone.
He told Team Talk: “The next 8-10 games are going to be key. If they can get to Christmas time and have a decent festive period, and they’re still in and around where they are now, they will get promoted.”
It might sound like a bold statement for Reid to sound so assured in his statement regarding the Reds’ promotion bid.
He believes, however, that Forest have a secret weapon that other clubs aren’t so fortunate to have which could hand them the edge in their push towards the Premier League.

Reid continued: “I just think the squad is really big and when other clubs start picking up niggling injuries, I think Forest will be able to cope with it better than most other teams.
“Of course, it’s a big if. To be in and around the top six by Christmas time there’s going to be a hell of a lot of work to do for the next two months. They are in a fantastic position though and need to ride the momentum.”
It’s a big statement for Reid to predict Forest could be practically nailed on for promotion if they are simply in or around the top six come Christmas.

They do have a decent-sized squad, however, and that must put them in good shape.
Forest have already lost Michael Dawson for two and a half games this season and from those games, seven points were claimed; highlighting the strength in depth.
There is a long way to go of course but Forest are looking like a club which is going in the right direction.
