Nottingham Forest midfielder John Bostock started his first game in the Championship for the Reds on Sunday against Wigan Athletic.

Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t able to prevent the Reds from seeing their 10-match unbeaten run come to an end at the DW Stadium.

Boss Sabri Lamouchi is likely to make a number of changes after a disappointing performance from his side at the weekend. Bostock will be hoping he’s done enough to stay in the team against Hull City.

Lamouchi will certainly be demanding more from his players tomorrow night. It will be interesting to see how they react to only their second defeat of the season.

It’s fair to say that Bostock was one player who did pick up some plaudits at the weekend, despite the result.

The former Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur man was given a chance in the middle of the park in the absence of Samba Sow. He did a reasonably good job considering his lack of football.

Bostock created arguably Forest’s best chance of the game when he played Rafa Mir in on goal in the second-half. However, the loanee from Wolverhampton Wanderers wasn’t able to hit the target.

Competition

There’s no doubt that Bostock has a job on his hands to retain his place. The likes of Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo and Ryan Yates are all putting pressure on him.

If he’s given another chance against the Tigers tomorrow, he’ll have to perform even better than he did against Wigan.
