Nottingham Forest have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship for the first time this season which has resulted in their promotion credentials being questioned.
Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham on The Terrace, ex-Nottingham Forest midfielder Andy Reid outlined the improvements that his former club need to make in order to compete for promotion to the Premier League.

In what must feel like a very familiar story for supporters, Sabri Lamouchi’s men made an excellent start to the season, but have struggled against sides lower than them in the league table since returning from the international break.
Despite recent results, the Reds remain just four points behind league leaders West Bromwich Albion. There’s no doubt that they are still in a good position to push on before the next two-week break.
Reid, who made over 250 appearances during two separate spells at the City Ground, identified the key area that the Reds need to improve upon, if they are to seriously compete for promotion to the Premier League this season.
Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham on The Terrace: “I think there is a lot of improvement to be made for this team to get promoted.

“I think they are short up top, especially if Lewis Grabban picks up an injury. If he’s not playing then you think ‘where are the going to come from on a regular basis?’
“I’m not too sure there is anybody to step in and fill that void. You look at other areas of the pitch and they are really strong.”
There’s no doubt that Lamouchi lacks options in that area of the pitch. Rafa Mir is his only alternative to Grabban in that position.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Reds did look to address that lack of depth in the squad in January. It’s the one area of the pitch where Lamouchi doesn’t have a number of quality options.
The Reds are back in action this afternoon against Reading at the City Ground. If they are able to secure the three points, then they stand a good chance of moving back into the play-off places.
