Nottingham Forest’s game against Reading at the City Ground was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Some Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration at the decision to postpone their clash with Reading, whilst others see it as a potential blessing in disguise.

Referee Geoff Eltringham’s decision to call the game off was quickly backed up by a statement on the club’s official website.

This read: “This afternoon’s match between Nottingham Forest and Reading has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

“Heavy rain overnight has left large areas of the pitch in an unplayable condition and referee Geoff Eltringham has taken the decision to call the game off.

“A re-arranged date will be confirmed in due course.”

The game was called off around three hours prior to kick-off due to large areas of the pitch being in an unplayable condition, with more rain having been forecast in Nottingham in the further hours leading up to the game.

It’s clear to see why some supporters are frustrated, as the Reds would’ve wanted the opportunity to bounce back from back-to-back defeats. The Reds have been beaten by Wigan Athletic and Hull City since returning from the international break.

On the other hand, it gives the Reds more time to get some of their injured players back to fitness. The likes of Michael Dawson, Samba Sow and Alfa Semedo were all set to miss the match through injury. They could well be back available by the time the fixture has been rearranged.

Sabri Lamouchi may be pleased to get some more time to work with his players on the training field. The performance against the Tigers on Wednesday was poor. He is likely to have numerous things he wants to work on.

Lamouchi’s men will now have to wait until next weekend to bounce back from their recent defeats. They are set to travel to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town.
