Nottingham Forest have this afternoon announced on the club’s official website that Swedish defender Alexander Milosevic has departed the City Ground.
The centre-back only signed for the club in February 2019 and leaves on the back of 12 appearances and one goal, which came in a 3-0 thrashing on Middlesbrough.
Milosevic plugged a hole for Forest at a time when the club was in desperate need of defensive options and performed extremely well.
The ex-AIK performer has seven caps for his country and has today seen his contract mutually terminated by the Reds.

His departure is perhaps bizarre considering the quality which Milosevic possesses. Had a survey been done at the start of the season among Forest supporters, many would have picked the 27-year-old as the club’s best centre-back.
Better options
The emergence of Joe Worrall has perhaps been the biggest contributing factor to Milosevic being shunted down the pecking order. The academy graduate has made a quality start to the campaign and boss Sabri Lamouchi clearly sees him as a key part of his team.

A capable defender at Championship level, Milosevic has failed to make a single squad in the league this season, with Worrall, Michael Dawson, Chema Rodriguez and Tobias Figueiredo all above him for a place in the team.
Worrall has done incredibly well to play well enough on a consistent basis to see off the challenge of such an experienced performer and his loan at Rangers last season has clearly improved him as a defender.

It is unfortunate for the Swede but that’s football and he will now have to wait until January to sign for a new club after leaving Forest outside of the transfer window.
Milosevic will leave Trentside with the club’s best wishes and supporters will surely remember his fine efforts during the second half of the 2018/19 campaign.
