Nottingham Forest yesterday made the decision to mutually agree on a deal with Alex Milosevic to terminate his contract at the City Ground.

The Reds defender had slipped down the pecking order behind Michael Dawson, Joe Worrall, Tobias Figueiredo and new signing Chema Rodriguez.

Milosevic had dropped to fifth choice and with his contract up at the end of the season anyway, Forest have made the decision to offload the central defender.

He leaves the City Ground having played 12 games and he proved a very shrewd signing by former boss Martin O’Neill. During a frustrating period for the club, he was a bright light and never let anyone down when called upon.

Last season he struck up an impressive partnership with Yohan Benalouane and the Tunisian performer has wished his former defensive partner well on Instagram:

The pair both arrived at Forest during a period when the squad was thin on defensive reinforcements.

Benaloaue arrived from Leicester City and penned an 18-month contract with the Reds. Milosevic signed a similar deal having previously left AIK in his native Sweden.

It is a sign of the strength in depth currently available to Forest that a place in the squad cannot be found for someone boasting the quality of Milosevic.

Benalouane is currently injured but it isn’t beyond the realms of reality that he will be released during the January transfer window when is expected to be fit.
