It might not have been a great October for Nottingham Forest but Matty Cash’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed with the club’s supporters after the youngster was named the Seat Pitch Player of the Month.

The 22-year-old has been given a new lease of life this season in an unfamiliar right-back role and he has taken to it with aplomb.

He has played in all but one of Forest’s league games this season and despite a run of two defeats in three games during October his efforts saw him earn praise form the club’s supporters.

Cash scored a consolation goal for the Reds in a recent 2-1 defeat and generally enjoyed a solid month.

The academy graduate burst onto the scene in 2016 under Philippe Montanier and since then he has come on leaps and bounds.

Playing in a number of positions to help the team, Cash has made over 100 appearances under a variety of different managers.

New lease of life

There is a sense that he has really come of age under Sabri Lamouchi though. He is playing well and looking determined to improve with each game he plays.

Cash was up against goalkeeper Brice Samba, midfielder Ben Watson and central defender Joe Worrall in competition for last month’s Player of the Month award.

The makeshift claimed it with 62% of the vote, with Samba in second with 34%. Worrall and Watson claimed just 2% each:

Cash will surely keep his place in the team to face Luton Town tomorrow afternoon. He has developed into a decent right-back this season and he should be part of the back four again at Kenilworth Road.
