Nottingham Forest midfielder Tiago Silva has sent a heartwarming post on Instagram to unfortunate Everton casualty Andre Gomes.

The Portuguese star was left writhing in agony on the Goodison Park turf yesterday afternoon following a nasty collision with Tottenham defender Serge Aurier.

Son Heung-min was actually dismissed for the incident but replays showed that his initial trip on Gomes didn’t cause the injury.

Gomes faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines having signed for Everton for £22 million (BBC Sport) from Barcelona during the summer.

Forest man Silva played with Gomes back in 2013 for the Portugal under-20 outfit and the Reds ace took to Instagram with a message of support for the stricken Premier League maestro:

The message from the Forest man translates to: ‘Fast recovery bro’.

Silva has made a decent start to life in the red of Nottingham Forest. On Saturday he made his ninth start of the campaign in the Championship and helped Forest towards a 2-1 win at Luton Town.

Since his arrival from Feirense, he has scored once in the Carabao Cup and registered two assists in the league.

Solid start

On Saturday he was tasked with playing in the number 10 role at the expense of Joao Carvalho and played arguably his best match in a Forest shirt.

Silva joined for an undisclosed seven-figure sum (Nottinghamshire Live) during the summer and is slowly but surely getting to grips with the demanding nature of the Championship.

Forest face Derby on Saturday and Silva looks likely to earn the chance to continue his steady form of late with another start.

Having spent time playing alongside Gomes, Silva will hope to one day feature in the Premier League lining-up against his former team-mate.

If Forest can continue their fine form of late, that day could come sooner rather than later.
