After a start to the season that has already gone a long way towards defying pre-season expectations among Nottingham Forest supporters, the latest international break allows some time for positive reflection.

The Reds sit fifth going into the latest period of rest for domestic footballers and under the stewardship of boss Sabri Lamouchi there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful.

It is nice to have a team to be proud of though and already there has been some decent football, quality performances and class goals for supporters to rave about.

Given that now is a time to reflect, Nottingham Forest News recently tasked supporters with casting their vote for the goal of the season so far in a Twitter poll.

The four choices for supporters to vote for were Lewis Grabban’s goal against Fulham during a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage, Grabban’s goal on Saturday, Joe Lolley’s equaliser against Blackburn Rovers or Alfa Semedo’s late winner at Swansea City.

The winning goal proved quite conclusive with Grabban’s first against Fulham claiming 64% of the overall vote.

His derby-day winner came second with Semedo’s Swansea strike in third place.

Pretty

The goal during a stunning win over Fulham was a joy to behold. It came courtesy of a free-flowing team move that featured every single player in the Forest ranks touching the ball.

It set the tone for the sort of football Forest would be capable of under Lamouchi and the win showcased the battling qualities within the ranks.

Grabban has been in tremendous scoring form away from the City Ground. Only Brentford’s Ollie Watkins has more goals away from home than the five scored by the Forest talisman.

Saturday’s strike against Derby was only his second on home soil but nonetheless, he is Forest’s most lethal finisher.
