Samba has become one of Sabri Lamouchi’s first names on the teamsheet due to his performances. He started his twelfth consecutive game for the Reds in their huge win against Derby County on Saturday. One of his most notable saves came in the first-half when he denied Tom Lawrence.

The 25-year-old has been so good, that many supporters are suggesting he’s the best goalkeeper to grace the City Ground in many years.

Not many people had heard of him before he joined the Reds. He had only made three first-team appearances during his time at Marseille and then Nancy on loan. It was at Caen where he made a name for himself by making 43 first-team appearances.

There’s no doubt that he is now a key player at the City Ground. He’ll be hoping that he continues to make such a positive impact and help the Reds push for promotion to the Premier League.

He has already kept six clean sheets since arriving at the club.

Not only has he become a popular figure for his performances on the pitch, but also for the relationship he has built up with the fans. He seems to be a great character off-the-pitch, and regularly communicates with fans on social media.

He recently shared a two-message on Twitter which includes a picture of him in the victory against Derby County:
