Sabri Lamouchi has made a promising start to life at the City Ground since taking over from Martin O’Neill.

Nottingham Forest striker Lewis Grabban has praised the belief that the Frenchman has in the squad in a recent interview with the Nottingham Post.

It’s fair to say that Lamouchi’s side did have a wobble with defeats against Wigan Athletic and Hull City. However, they’ve responded well with wins against Luton Town and Derby.

Grabban is grateful for the backing that Lamouchi has shown him so far this season. The 31-year-old has been virtually ever-present in the Frenchman’s starting line-up. He has repaid that faith by netting seven goals so far.

Grabban struggled for form under O’Neill in the second-half of last season. He’s certainly benefitted from the change of face in the dugout.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, Grabban said: “The manager wants me to do well. He backs me. If I score, he wants me to score two.

“He just wants the maximum – and when he gets that he wants a bit more.

“It’s just honesty and respect. You can always tell when a manager believes in you. That’s key.”

The Reds have gone from strength to strength this season under Lamouchi. They remain one of the most defensively solid outfits in the Championship, and play an entertaining brand of football.

Lamouchi did have his doubters after the back-to-back defeats against Wigan and Hull. However, he’s more than shown that he has the tactical nouse to help the Reds push for promotion this season.

The Reds have produced some impressive performances this season, but they still have a lot to do if they are to achieve their objective.
