Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has shown willingness to give youth a chance during his first four months in charge.

The Reds incumbent has utilised Joe Worrall and Matty Cash on a regular basis, with Brennan Johnson, Alex Mighten and Jordan Gabriel all receiving debuts under the French boss.

It must be a good feeling for the under-23 players to know that the first-team boss is keeping an eye on them.

One man who does appear to be progressing at a frantic pace is young forward Mighten.

He made his first-team debut during the 5-0 drubbing by Arsenal, entering the fray for the final 12 minutes of the contest.

At 17-years-old Mighten is a highly-rated forward who is already a regular with the under-23 ranks.

So far during 2019/20, he has netted three times for Jimmy Gilligan’s team, proving one of the manager’s brightest attacking outlets.

During a 6-0 drubbing of Bolton at the Nigel Doughty Academy earlier today, Mighten showed his worth.

His trickery earned Forest a penalty to open the scoring, he netted the second and claimed as assist for Will Swan as he tucked home a third.

Right now, the teenager is proving unplayable at times.

Mighten has all the trick and flicks in the locker and it will be interesting to see how he progresses in the coming years.

Forest are thought to be keen to tie the youngster down. His two-year scholarship is up in the summer and the Reds won’t want to lose him.

Grounded

Despite his tender years, nothing seems to faze Mighten. Although his appearance at the Emirates was brief, he certainly didn’t disgrace himself.

Mighten is an England under-18 international and if Forest were to let him slip through the net, another club would surely snap him up.

Forest can’t allow that to happen and must act swiftly.

The club prides itself on a quality academy and there are lots of reasons to be cheerful about it right now.

Mighten is one of those and playing for the under-23s at the age of 17 tells supporters everything they need to know about the brilliant speed merchant.
