The Nottingham Forest midfielder saw red in a tricky game for Sabri Lamouchi’s men at Ashton Gate.
A number of Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the goalless draw against Bristol City in the Championship and midfielder Ryan Yates has been receiving a fair bit of criticism for his red card during the game.

The 21-year-old was sent off shortly after half-time for a two-footed lunge on Adam Nagy. It didn’t give referee Craig Pawson any other choice than to brandish the red card.
Following the midfielder’s departure, the Reds did still have a few chances to potentially nick all three points. Lewis Grabban had an opportunity to win it when he tried to dink the ball over Daniel Bentley, but his effort went just wide.

Already the former Notts County and Scunthorpe United loanee has had some doubters this season. Following his latest performance and early bath, some Nottingham Forest fans made their feelings known on social media:
‘Liability’
In the modern game it’s the players responsibility to know the difference between stupidity and aggression. I have no words for the technique of Yates challenge and it’s a liability

As regards Yates, yes. He will be nowhere near the team soon and Yacob would do a much better job and keep his head

Yates. Passion. Determination. forest throu and throu. I’d take the odd Red Card for that any day of the week #NFFC

Sound like a very silly challenge by Yates. But let’s not be stupid by verbally abusing the lad. He will learn! #nffc

Nobody’s perfect … Roy Keane, Stuart Pearce etc. all had these moments in them. Not comparing them quality-wise to Yates but it’s a part of the game of a battling player, they get sent off sometimes

Decent result & great effort … I won’t be harsh on Yates as I’ve seen Stuart Pearce do it lotsa times & he’s my all time fav player 😉

Yates is a young lad, a little hot headed but he will learn from the mistakes.
it’s all a learning curve for the lad. #nffc

The midfielder made his breakthrough into the first-team in the second-half of last season. He’s still only made 17 appearances for the Reds to date. It’s a shame for Yates as he was doing a good job of filling the void left by Samba Sow.

Lamouchi will now have to call upon somebody else to play that role.
