Nottingham Forest continued their promising start to the season at Loftus Road on Wednesday. A 4-0 win against 10-man Queens Park Rangers saw Sabri Lamouchi’s men move up to fourth.

The game wasn’t without incident. The hosts were reduced to 10-men just after half-time when Lee Wallace was dismissed for pulling down Joe Lolley.

The Reds were already ahead by that point and were well worth the three points. Mark Warburton’s side struggled to create many clear opportunities against a Reds side which showed why they are where they are in the league table.

There were many performances which caught the eye. Brice Samba, Matty Cash and Tobias Figueiredo were all named in Who Scored’s Team of the Week.

Lamouchi’s side have only lost three games this season. They also have the second best defensive record in the division having only conceded 13 goals.

The only side with a better record than that is Leeds United.

It’s fair to say that the Reds are starting to be taken more seriously by those around them. Respected Leeds United journalist Phil Hay has been left impressed with Forest’s recent results.

Hay writes for The Athletic and has been left surprised by the Reds, letting his followers know that he fancies Lamouchi’s men to finish in the top four.

It’s fair to say that not many people expected the Reds to make this sort of start. Lamouchi only took over from Martin O’Neill in June so didn’t even have a full pre-season to prepare his side.

The Reds certainly look strong candidates to secure a place in the play-offs.

It remains to be seen if they have enough to challenge for automatic promotion. West Bromwich Albion and Fulham both have a lot of firepower, whilst Leeds are hungry after just missing out last season.

The Reds are back in action in the Championship this weekend against Cardiff City.
