Nottingham Forest suffered their third home defeat of the season on Saturday as they lost 1-0 to Cardiff City.
With the Reds heading into a crucial period of the season, the last thing that Nottingham Forest supporters wanted to wake up to were reports linking Sabri Lamouchi with a move to the Premier League.
According to The Sun on Sunday (1/12, Page 67), Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Lamouchi. They plan to make him their ‘top target’ should Nuno Espírito Santo leave.
Wolves are in Premier League action this afternoon as they face Sheffield United at Molineux. Nuno’s future has been cast into doubt once again. Arsenal are said to be considering Nuno as a potential replacement for Unai Emery.
If Wolves are to pick up three points against the Blades, they could move up to fifth in the Premier League and have already progressed to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
It’s fair to say that Nuno deserves to be a strong candidate for the job at the Emirates.
However, Nottingham Forest supporters will be desperately hoping that the Gunners opt to appoint a different name.
There’s no doubt that Lamouchi has done a remarkable job since taking over at the City Ground. The Reds remain fourth in the Championship despite yesterday’s defeat.
They are only seven points off the automatic promotion places and have a game in hand on many of those around them.
The main concern is that Lamouchi is currently only on a one-year deal at the City Ground. The Reds may have to address that situation soon, especially if Wolves do lose Nuno to Arsenal.
