Nottingham Forest beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 at the City Ground to finish the calendar year with a victory.
The Reds are back in the top six of the Championship and go into Wednesday’s game with Blackburn in high spirits.
Forest’s performance wasn’t the best but three points are all that matters and Sabri Lamouchi will now prepare for the next game.

Things could have been different against the Latics.
Despite being bottom of the league they tormented Forest at times and but for a Brice Samba penalty save, would have claimed a deserved point.
The man signed for £1.9 million (Nottinghamshire Live) from Caen in the summer is proving a real cult hero to those of a Forest persuasion.
He has proved a real find for the Reds and offered proof that there is value in the European market.
Samba’s save from Josh Windass’ spot-kick sent the City Ground into raptures and it remains to be seen just how important it might prove in the context of the campaign.
