Wigan came with a game plan to frustrate Forest but to also have a go and get themselves on the front foot.

Paul Cook’s team should have equalised when they were awarded a penalty. Brice Samba guessed correctly though and palmed Josh Windass’ spot-kick away from the goal.

Forest have played better on occasions this season and not collected all three points. Against Wigan the performance was patchy but ultimately, a win is indeed a win.

A video from the game has got Forest fans talking. The club’s media team have utilised a bench cam on occasions this season and they filmed the dugout during Sunday’s win.

The footage shows Michael Dawson kicking every ball, Jordan Smith barking orders to his team-mates and Joao Carvalho getting excited after being substituted.

The Portuguese maestro has been subjected to a lot of Twitter debate. He hasn’t enjoyed a great season so far but the potential is clearly there in abundance.

Some supporters have perhaps cruelly questioned Carvalho’s commitment and willingness to stay at Forest.

If the bench cam is anything to go by, then the 22-year-old cares deeply about the football club.
