Nottingham Forest were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in the FA Cup for the second successive season. Goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley ensured the Blues will be in the hat for round four.

Boss Sabri Lamouchi set his stall out from the moment his team was announced. Ten changes were made to the team from the one that defeated Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Day.

Household names Joe Lolley, Matty Cash, Ben Watson, Tiago Silva, Joe Worrall, Brice Samba, Samba Sow, Lewis Grabban and Sammy Ameobi were all left in Nottingham.

Several youngsters were handed the chance to shine with the bench largely made up of teenagers.


One man who made his first start in the red of Forst was 17-year-old Alex Mighten.

Nottingham Forest News recently told you exclusively of his new long-term deal at the City Ground and he looks like a great prospect.

Mighten was deployed in a more advanced role as a striker for large parts of the game.

He was up against Fikayo Tomori and never gave him a moment’s peace. The ex-Derby loanee had given a penalty away in the first half for a foul on Mighten, but VAR intervened with the youngster offside.

It was still a memorable debut, however. He looked like a youngster who could certainly go on to have a bright future at the City Ground.
