Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella on loan, according to Goal.
The 22-year-old earned a rare chance to shine for Jurgen Klopp’s team in yesterday’s 1-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup.
Chirivella was a standout performer but does look set to leave Anfield in pursuit of more frequent first-team football.
Forest are one of the club’s keen to add the ex-Spain under-17 international to their ranks this month, with two concrete offers on the table.
Despite spending five years at Liverpool he has only played once in the Premier League. He has played nine games in total but largely in the cup competitions.
Chirivella has spent time on loan at Go Ahead Eagles, Willem II and Extremadura in recent seasons. At 22, the time has come for the midfield workhorse to be strutting his stuff on a weekly basis.
Forest are in the market for a few players during January to help maintain their place in the Championship play-off places.
Nottingham Forest News View – If Everton performance is anything to go by, Reds should pounce…quickly!
The Reds will have a striker on their radar as a number one priority but some midfield creativity certainly wouldn’t go amiss.
Chirivella is very forward-thinking and against Everton at the weekend he was exceptional.
Playing against the experienced Morgan Schneiderlin and Gylfi Sigurdsson, it was expected to be a tough afternoon for the youngster.
The Spaniard went about his business in a professional fashion, however. According to Who Scored, he finished with a pass success of 83%, producing 62 accurate passes during the game.
Valued at £4 million as recently as March 2019 (Liverpool Echo), Forest should do all they can to persuade Liverpool that the City Ground is the best club for his development.
