League Two outfit Port Vale are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Jordan Gabriel.

According to BBC Sport, as reported in StokeonTrentLive, the Reds have allowed the right-back to train with Port Vale in the last few days.

The Valiants already have a good relationship with the Reds. Sabri Lamouchi allowed midfielder Jake Taylor to leave on a half-season loan in the summer.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Gabriel follow Taylor’s footsteps by moving to Vale Park on loan. The 21-year-old is unlikely to get much of an opportunity in the first-team at the City Ground before the end of the season.

Matty Cash has been immense for the Reds at right-back in the last few months. Carl Jenkinson has also recently returned from injury which pushes Gabriel even further down the pecking order.

Gabriel has been a regular for the Under-23s this season. He did make one appearance under the management of Lamouchi earlier on in the season against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

He was also named on the bench against Chelsea in the FA Cup at the weekend. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t introduced off-the-bench at Stamford Bridge.

Port Vale manager John Askey will be keen to snap up one of Forest’s most promising youngsters. Not only this, but he’ll be keen to snap up Taylor for the second-half of the season as well.

The Valiants are currently sat six points off the play-offs in League Two. Adding the likes of Gabriel to the squad could help them bridge that gap.

With Gabriel already training with Askey’s team, it seems a matter of time before some sort of deal is announced.
