Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been discussing the future of Nottingham Forest ‘target’ Eddie Nketiah in the last few days.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds have held talks with Arsenal over a deal that would see the former Leeds United striker move to the City Ground.
However, the Reds aren’t the only side that remain interested in the 20-year-old. There are a number of other Championship sides who are also monitoring the youngster’s situation.
The Daily Mirror have reported that Premier League outfit Aston Villa have also joined the chase. The Villans are in the market for a striker to replace the injured Wesley.
Nketiah may be tempted by an opportunity to test himself in the top flight at Villa Park. That being said, his chances of regular first-team action aren’t going to be as good as they would be if he joined the Reds.
Speaking on the future of Nketiah, Arteta said: “We are assessing the options with the three of them and in the next few days,” as quoted in the Nottingham Post.
“Tyreece and Eddie are in the same situation. Eddie has become a much better player. We have to discuss whether we keep him or not in the next few months.
“I’m not expecting big things. I’m expecting big things from the players I have now to get through the season in a more balanced way. We always have to be looking because of some injuries.”
Nketiah spent the first-half of the season at Leeds United. He made 17 appearances for the Whites, making just two starts. However, he still managed to find the back of the net three times.
He’d certainly be a good option for the Reds if they can strike a deal.
