Rodríguez has recently become an established member of Sabri Lamouchi’s starting line-up.

He has played in the last five league games at left-back, and despite being a centre-back by trade, he hasn’t performed badly at all.

He has unquestionably been a very good signing for the Reds, doing more than enough to suggest that he is worth trying to keep hold of.

However, AS have reported that the 27-year-old is set to join Segunda División side UD Almería in the near future.

Rodríguez only signed a two-year contract at the City Ground in the summer, so you’d expect the Reds to demand a reasonable fee for his services.

Interestingly, opinion on Rodríguez’s future appears to be divided. Some appear to feel that if he hasn’t managed to settle in England, then the Reds should allow him to move back to Spain.

The Reds certainly aren’t short of options in his position. Joe Worrall and Tobias Figueiredo have been the first choice partnership in the centre of defence in recent weeks.

Lamouchi has the likes of Michael Dawson, Yohan Benalouane and Michael Hefele in reserve.

That being said, Rodríguez has proven to be a useful member of the squad given his versatility and ability to play left-back.

Lamouchi would certainly miss that option if he is to depart.

Here’s what some Nottingham Forest supporters have been saying about the report on Twitter:
