Nottingham Forest’s hopes of signing Glenn Murray have been rated as ‘slim’ by Brighton boss Graham Potter.
The Seagulls incumbent was quizzed on the future of the 36-year-old striker by The Argus.
It doesn’t seem like good news for Forest with Potter unsure whether the move could work for all parties.
The Reds are keen to bolster their ranks with a striker and had targeted Murray as a potential new signing.

He has fallen down the pecking order this season and Potter had been willing to allow him to leave this month.
The move appears a long way off, however, with his current manager doubting whether it will happen.
He told The Argus: “It’s not one you could see that could work for all parties. I doubt it.
With Jonathan Kodja set for a medical in Qatar (Daily Star), Forest’s quest to land a striker looks to have gone back to the drawing board.

Lewis Grabban is the club’s only striker. Rafa Mir returned to Wolves and was sent straight out to Huesca and Tyler Walker is on loan at Lincoln City.
Forest are hopeful of landing additional firepower prior to the deadline but are being forced to play a waiting game.
The Reds sit fifth in the Championship ahead of a home double-header in the next week.
Signing a player or two would certainly help their case for a play-off place and a striker looks particularly important.
Blow
Whilst this news on £30,000-a-week Murray is a setback for Forest, it’s perhaps not the worst news in the world.

At 36 he would have only represented a short-term fix and the club will probably be scouring the market for a younger player capable of doing the same job.
Forest’s bid to sign a striker could go all the way to deadline day.
