Huddersfield Town winger Adama Diakhaby is understood to be close to joining Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season, according to Sky Sports.

As originally reported by The Sun‘s Alan Nixon, Nottingham Forest look set to sign Adama Diakhaby on loan this month. But what would a move for the 23-year-old mean for youngster Alex Mighten?

They 17-year-old winger is regarded as one of Forest’s most talented prospects. He has started to become more involved in the first-team of late, but still only has two appearances to his name.

In time, Mighten is tipped to become a star for club and country. Yet the arrival of Diakhaby would only make it harder for Mighten to break through at the City Ground.

Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi clearly wants and needs experienced players as he looks to ensure that the Reds continue to forge a strong push for promotion to the Premier League.

However, he also needs to look ahead. Further limiting Mighten’s prospects could come back to bite the club if he leaves in pursuit of the football his talent deserves.

He may still be young, but Mighten has shown glimpses of his ability. His performance against Chelsea surprised a significant number of supporters.

Diakhaby’s arrival will put yet another barrier in his way. Forest already have the likes of Joe Lolley, Sammy Ameobi and Albert Adomah to call on in wide areas.

It’s clear to see why the Reds are interested in Diakhaby. However, it might mean that Mighten is better off going elsewhere on loan in the search of first-team football.
