There’s a swap deal Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United must discuss amid two recent rumours

Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United have been linked with each other’s players in January.

There are still around two weeks to go until this month’s transfer window slams shut, and rumours are starting to build-up for both Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.

Both teams could be active in the next two weeks. For Forest, they’ve enjoyed a great season so far under Sabri Lamouchi, and they’ll be hoping to bring in some attacking reinforcements to help the club’s push for promotion.

Sheffield United have only made one signing so far in the form of midfielder Jack Rodwell. Chris Wilder doesn’t need to make too many new signings but will be keen to bolster his squad.

Intriguingly though, the teams have been linked with each other’s players. The Daily Star claim that the Reds have previously enquired about Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp, whilst The Sun‘s Alan Nixon has reported that the Blades are interested in Forest defender Jack Robinson.

Sharp isn’t the only player to be linked with a move to Forest from Bramall Lane this month. The Sheffield Star have also suggested that midfielder Luke Freeman could be on their radar.

Swap?

Freeman would be the more exciting addition. Although, with Adama Diakhary said to be on the verge of joining, making another move for Sharp would make more sense.

With all that in mind, the two teams should at least discuss the possibility of a part-exchange deal this summer, even if such swaps are usually hard to pull off in football.

Forest need some attacking reinforcements to help take the goalscoring burden of Lewis Grabban.

They’ve struggled to sign a striker so far this month, so it makes sense to potentially use one of their own players as leverage in a potential deal.

It’s a long shot, and Sheffield United may be more reluctant than Forest, but in an expensive transfer market, it’s at least worth discussing whether a swap can aid both teams this summer.
