The Reds would benefit from adding another creative midfielder to their ranks this month.
According to a report from France Football, Nottingham Forest are interested in signing 26-year-old midfielder Farid Boulaya in this month’s transfer window.
The Reds have looked a different side this term compared to last season thanks to the appointment of Sabri Lamouchi.

Forest have shown that they have what it takes to push for promotion to the Premier League, and they are currently sat fourth in the Championship.
The Reds are currently sat four points off the automatic promotion places, and just five off league leaders West Bromwich Albion. The top half of the Championship table is incredibly tight at the moment and a lot could change from now till the end of the season.
The Reds have a really good squad but the one area of concern is attacking midfield. Tiago Silva has been Forest’s key source of creativity this term and as good as he’s been, the Reds need a little bit more.

Talent
João Carvalho has struggled for first-team action recently. However, he hasn’t shown enough when he’s come off-the-bench to justify a starting place.
Boulaya is a good shout to bring in some creativity but the Algerian hasn’t quite been the same player as he was last season. He was integral in helping Metz to promotion last season but hasn’t been able to make the same impact in the top flight.
The 26-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Metz so far this season. Lamouchi may already know Boulaya’s qualities from his time in France and may be tempted to bring him to the City Ground.

According to France Football‘s report, the Reds are ‘working on’ a deal to sign the midfielder on loan with an option to buy. That means that it would be a fairly low risk signing for the Reds.
However, the kind of impact he would have in the Championship is anyone’s guess.
