Nottingham Forest have been offered the chance to sign Christian Atsu on loan until the end of the season, the Daily Mail reports.

The Ghanaian international has featured 18 times in the Premier League under Steve Bruce this season, but six appearances have come in the way of starts.

He has been used sparingly by Steve Bruce who has never really trusted him to be one of his two first-choice wingers.

Atsu signed for the Magpies in 2017 from Chelsea on a four-year contract.

Since checking-in at St James’ Park, he has scored eight goals and registered nine assists during 118 outings.

Those numbers perhaps don’t tell a full story though as he has often been used as a substitute.

Forest have signed one winger on loan this month in Adama Diakhaby from Huddersfield.

Yesterday, Team Talk suggested that Albert Adomah could join Cardiff and that could leave Forest in need of a winger.

Atsu would provide Sabri Lamouchi’s ranks with an injection of Premier League quality and on loan, he might be a smart addition.

Atsu is currently paid £30,000-a-week (Spotrac) at St James’ Park and they are likely to still pick up a chunk of that salary if he moves to the City Ground.

Joe Lolley is comfortably Forest best winger and he is bang in form at the moment.

Sammy Ameobi is another who has featured regularly this season but he can occasionally be frustrating, despite his six assists.

Some competition for those two would be ideal and a player with Atsu’s quality could prove an ideal signing.

He boasts experience of playing at Newcastle, Chelsea, Everton and on the continent with Porto, Rio Ave and Vitesse Arnhem.

West Brom were also offered the chance to sign Atsu but do seem to have other targets in mind.
