Nottingham Forest endured a disappointing afternoon in the Championship while Glenn Murray shone for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Reds looked to be in control after Tiago Silva had given them the lead, but a penalty miss from Lewis Grabban signalled the start of what turned out to be a frustrating afternoon.

Goals from Scott Hogan and Kristian Pedersen turned the game on it’s head and condemned the Reds to a rare defeat at St Andrew’s.

The Reds have built-up a habit of conceding at key moments in games. In recent weeks, they’ve dropped points from winning positions against Middlesbrough, Millwall, Reading and now Birmingham – all games which they arguably should’ve won.

So a frustrating defeat away at Birmingham is hardly the way Nottingham Forest fans wanted to enter an important run of fixtures against the likes of Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion.

Frustrating

And, to make matters worse, one-that-got-away Glenn Murray showed in the most clinical manner possible what the Reds are missing.

According to The Sun on Sunday (Page 63; 12/01/20), the Reds were interested in signing the 36-year-old striker in January. But instead of making the switch to the City Ground, the experienced frontman opted to stay at the AMEX Stadium.

It’s fair to say that Murray looks to have made the right decision. Murray was given his first start in the Premier League since September against West Ham United on Saturday.

He repaid his manager’s faith in him by scoring the equaliser in a six-goal thriller at the Olympic Stadium. He’ll be hoping that he’s done enough to keep his place in the team.

Murray is a natural-born goalscorer and leader. And you have to wonder whether failing to sign a striker of his calibre in January could come back to haunt the Reds.
