Nottingham Forest midfielder Zach Clough hasn’t made an appearance for the Reds in over two years, but remains on the club’s books until the summer at least.

Nottingham Forest fans are in utter disbelief after coming to the realisation that Zach Clough failed to secure a move away from the club once again in January.

According to The Bolton News, there were reports linking Clough with a return to former club Bolton Wanderers on Deadline Day. However, a move never materialised and he remains at Forest.

The City Ground faithful cannot understand why Clough didn’t push for a move away because he will seemingly now go until the summer at least without playing any first-team football.

Sabri Lamouchi is highly unlikely to give the 24-year-old a chance. He already has the likes of Tiago Silva and João Carvalho to choose from in the same position.

Clough signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Reds in 2017 when he joined from Bolton for around £2.5 million (BBC Sport). Therefore, the midfielder’s contract doesn’t expire until June 2021.

The midfielder’s time at the City Ground certainly got off to a flying start. Two goals against Brighton & Hove Albion, one against Brentford, and another in a four-goal thriller against Derby County showed what he’s capable of.

However, it’s been a nightmare couple of years for the once promising midfielder since then.

He now hasn’t made an appearance for the Reds since featuring in their FA Cup fourth-round clash against Hull City in January 2018.

‘Lazy’, ‘Baffled’

Not only that, but he hasn’t made a single first-team appearance for anyone since April last year.
