Nottingham Forest roared into contention for automatic promotion to the Premier League with a stunning 2-0 victory over Leeds United.
Sabri Lamouchi’s men stood strong in the face of a good Marcelo Bielsa-led side and emerged victorious from a ferocious City Ground battle.
A Sammy Ameobi goal in the first half and a Tyler Walker goal in stoppage time sent Forest just a point behind the Whites.
Leeds had no answer for Forest on a frustrating afternoon for them.
Following a memorable victory for the Reds, Nottingham Forest News looked at each player and rated their performance out of 10:
Brice Samba – 8
Had very little to do but made a superb double save from Liam Cooper’s header in the second half, palming the ball off the line at the second attempt.
Matty Cash – 8
Played well again but Leeds doubled up on him in the second half and that made life difficult for the academy graduate.
Tobias Figueiredo – 9
Barely gave Patrick Bamford of Jean-Kevin Augustin a kick. Was colossal in defence and showed the grit of a gladiator.
Joe Worrall – 8
Roared into two ferocious tackles in the build-up to the first goal and was largely impressive throughout the game.
Yuri Ribeiro – 8
Stifled the threat of Leeds’ wide men as they swapped throughout. The Portuguese performer was clearly up for the fight.
Ben Watson – 8
Rock-solid again from Watson. Gave possession away on occasions, particularly in the first-half but was superb off the ball.
Samba Sow – 10
Gone are the days where you need to notch a hat-trick to gain a 10. The Malian battering ram was truly magnificent and covered every single blade of grass to thwart any threat of danger from the opposition.
Sammy Ameobi – 8
Took his goal well and looked neat and tidy in possession. Looked tired at the end and was correctly substituted.
Tiago Silva – 8
Another solid performance from the Portuguese trickster who showed flashes of brilliance throughout.
Joe Lolley – 9
Dispossessed Jack Harrison in stoppage time to put a second goal on a plate for Walker in a selfless act. Is firmly back to his best.
Lewis Grabban – 8
Should have scored early in the second half but somehow found the legs of Kiko Casilla. Huffed and puffed but was withdrawn for Walker near the end.
Adama Diakhaby (Ameobi, 67) – 7
Worked well defensively but didn’t get much chance to showcase his qualities going forward.
Ryan Yates (Silva, 80) – 7
Did well when he came on and won Forest a couple of good free-kicks when Leeds had threated an equaliser.
Tyler Walker – N/A
Came on in the 90th minute so doesn’t technically get a rating but the scenes after he confirmed the victory, ensured that he doesn’t really need one.
