Nottingham Forest return to action tonight with a tough-looking game against Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Reds were held to a frustrating draw against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, but tonight’s opponents suffered a disappointing result themselves.

Forest sit on 56 points, whilst Cardiff aren’t too far behind on 50, meaning that tonight’s game could prove to be of great significance in the race for the promotion.

Ahead of tonight’s game, Nottingham Forest News looked at the players who could be in line to start when the Reds return to Championship action:

Matty Cash was once again named in the Team of the Week, and is bound to start at right-back, whilst Yuri Ribeiro will continue his recent run of games at left-back.

Joe Worrall will almost certainly start for the Reds but alongside him, it could be one from two.

Tobias Figueiredo has been immense in recent games, but Lamouchi may be tempted to call upon the experience of Michael Dawson in this fixture against such a physical side.

That being said, Figueiredo is likely to still get the nod given his recent performances.

In midfield

Ben Watson has been ever-present in the league this season and his performances continue to impress supporters. His experience will be vital in the business end of the season.

Lamouchi revealed yesterday that Samba Sow is a doubt for this fixture. Ryan Yates, Alfa Semedo and John Bostock will all be looking to take his place in the side.

That being said, Lamouchi may opt to drop Tiago Silva into the deeper role alongside Watson.

In attack

16-goal talisman Lewis Grabban is currently enduring a dry spell by his standards. He looks set to miss out on this game though through injury, meaning Tyler Walker is likely to start.

João Carvalho has struggled to make an impact this season but he may be given the perfect opportunity to prove his worth in this fixture in his favourite position just behind the striker.

On the flanks, Joe Lolley will almost certainly play on the right, with Adama Diakhaby the most likely to replace Sammy Ameobi if he does miss out through injury.

Here is how Lamouchi’s team could line-up tonight:
