Nottingham Forest beat Cardiff City 1-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship on Tuesday.

Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has told BBC Radio Nottingham that he thought Ben Watson and Lewis Grabban were particularly impressive last night in what was another impressive away performance from the Reds.

The Reds were expected to struggle against a play-off chasing Cardiff side, who had only previously lost once at home this season.

Bristol City were the only team to have been victorious, when they won 1-0 back in November.

However, it was Lamouchi’s men who always looked the more likely to come away with the three points. Tiago Silva’s 49th-minute strike was ultimately enough to secure victory in a game of few chances.

The Reds had opportunities to kill the game off in the second-half but weren’t able to do so. This meant they had to endure a few nervy moments as the hosts pushed for an equaliser late on.

‘What a game’

That being said, the Reds were brilliant for much of the game, showing the grit and determination which has seen them pick up 31 points on the road already this season.

There is plenty for the Reds to be positive about ahead of facing Middlesbrough on Monday, and Lamouchi has picked out two players who particularly impressed him.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham:”It was a fantastic performance and a great result.

“Lewis (Grabban) didn’t score, but what a game. Ben Watson, our captain, all the time took the right decision and was all the time in a good position.

“From everyone I liked the attitude, the commitment, all involved. We deserve this victory and deserved to score more.”

Watson picked up Sky Sports‘ man-of-the-match award after the game and it’s clear to see why. He completed 29 of his 43 attempted passes, made three interceptions, nine ball recoveries and one block.

16-goal talisman Grabban didn’t add to his tally, but was impressive all night in his general play. He never stopped running and contributed with a sublime assist for Silva’s crucial goal.
