Nottingham Forest paid £1.9 million (Nottingham Post) to sign the 25-year-old goalkeeper from Caen in August on a four-year deal. The Reds were given a hint that he could be a good addition due to the reaction of his former club’s supporters.
Samba has been a star performer for Sabri Lamouchi so far this season. He has been ever-present since he replaced Arijanet Muric in the starting line-up after the first few games.

The 25-year-old has had slight dips in performances, as any player does, but he’s now kept 12 clean sheets this season (Transfermarkt). Only Leeds United’s Kiko Casilla has kept more with 14.
‘Best keeper in the league’
His latest came last night as the Reds secured a crucial 1-0 win away at Cardiff City.

Steve Hodge made over 200 appearances for the Reds over two spells, and believes there is no doubt about Samba’s talent. He doesn’t believe that there is a better goalkeeper in the Championship.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “I believe we really do have the best keeper in the league this season.”

The Reds will be pleased that they tied the goalkeeper down to a four-year deal in August. It wouldn’t be surprising if there were some Premier League sides sniffing around.
There’s no doubt that Samba is the best goalkeeper the Reds have had for a number of years.
