Millwall winger Jed Wallace has suggested that Nottingham Forest star Joe Lolley is the best player in the Championship, during an interview with Not the Top 20 podcast.
The highly-rated winger is enjoying a quality season in the Sky Bet Championship, scoring 10 goals and registering eight assists.
Wallace was a menace for the Reds during a 2-2 draw at the New Den back in December, creating an assist during the game.
During a recent interview, however, he was quizzed on who he fancied as the best player in the league and opted to name the Forest man.
He told Not the Top 20: “If you’d have asked me last season I’d have probably said, Jack Grealish.
“In terms of wide players, Joe Lolley at Nottingham Forest is the one. He’s the best we’ve come up against this season.
“He came on for 25 minutes against us and when I watch Forest he’s the one where I think if he gets going, he’s a tough one to stop, for sure.”
Lolley has recently got back into his stride in the red of Forest, helping them maintain a push towards a play-off place.
He has scored eight goals and registered seven assists this season with the Reds currently sat fourth in the league.
Many would consider Wallace one of the top players in the Championship. He was linked with a £10 million move to Aston Villa during the summer and looks set for a big future.
Lolley is two years older than Wallace but he is equally as important to Forest as the Millwall man is to his team.
The Forest star often carries the weight of expectation on his shoulders and earlier in the season he was perhaps feeling the strain.
Since the turn of the year, however, he has been brilliant, however, and is now very much an integral part of Sabri Lamouchi’s team.
Forest have slipped under the radar a little bit this season with lots of pundits and Championship analysts.
Wallace recognising Lolley as the best player in the division does at least suggest that some people are treating Forest as serious promotion contenders.
