Nottingham Forest have named Matty Cash as their Player of the Year for the 2019/20 campaign, as voted for by supporters of the football club.

The Reds defender was in blistering form during the campaign, scoring three goals and registering five assists despite playing right-back.

Cash’s form hasn’t slipped under the radar and according to reports plenty of Premier League clubs are keen on securing his services.

Forest fans voted in numbers though and Cash claimed the award with 60% of the vote, with Lewis Grabban in second place and goalkeeper Brice Samba in third.

Following the accolade, Cash tweeted his delighted at now seeing his name on a trophy alongside Forest greats such as Stuart Pearce, Des Walker, Nigel Clough, Garry Birtles and more recently Andy Reid.

Forest will want to do all they can to keep hold of Cash this summer, with some supporters suggesting other sales should be prioritised.

The 23-year-old came of age during 2019/20, stepping up at a time when Forest were desperately in need of a right-back, making the position his own.

 

Following yesterday’s announcement supporters were keen to thank Cash for his contributions on Twitter.
