Lyle Taylor checked in at the City Ground on Saturday and he received a message of congratulations from West Ham and England star Declan Rice.
The forward arrives on a free transfer having walked away from Charlton at the end of his contract last season.
Taylor scored 11 goals last season, including two against Forest, and he will undoubtedly add some firepower to Sabri Lamouchi’s ranks.
Lewis Grabban scored 20 times last season but in reserve, the Reds had very little, with Nuno Da Costa and Tyler Walker scoring once between them.
Taylor is a proven Championship player and he proved a real menace to Forest when they met Charlton last season, with his tireless running and determination.
It’s unclear how Rice, valued at £90 million (The Times) and Taylor now each other but the man with seven England caps took to Instagram to congratulate the new Forest recruit.
Forest have now added Taylor, Tyler Blackett and Jack Colback to their ranks, without paying out a transfer fee yet.
In these uncertain financial times that will delight the football club and supporters will revel in the savvy nature of the club’s recruitment.
Taylor bolsters Forest’s ranks considerably and Rice clearly believes he deserves his move to the Reds.
It’ll be interesting to see exactly how Taylor operates in Lamouchi’s plans but ultimately it’s an exciting addition for supporters.
At 30, Taylor will know he has plenty still to offer and he should be capable of scoring even more than his 11-goal haul last season.
