Nottingham Forest are bracing themselves for a bid from Olympiacos for left-back Yuri Ribeiro, according to Portuguese outlet Record.

The Greek giants are owned by Evangelos Marinakis and it seems the bigwig could be set to have a reshuffle between the two clubs he owns.

Ribeiro was a standout performer for Forest last season, playing 31 games and registering three assists in his maiden campaign for the club.

The Reds added Tyler Blackett last week, with Jack Colback and Lyle Taylor also being added to the Forest ranks

Selling Ribeiro would upset the Reds faithful though but journalist Paul Taylor has suggested the overseas reports might be a case of idle gossip.

Certainly, Forest supporters will hope that is to be the case, with the 23-year-old very much viewed as a key player to the club.

Ribiero arrived from Benfica last summer as competition to Jack Robinson but quickly became Sabri Lamouchi’s first choice following a string of eye-catching performances.

Forest were denied in their quest to reach the play-offs last season, dropping out of the top-six on the final day of the 2019/20 campaign.

One player or two might need to leave but Forest will want valuations to reflect the quality of their top players.

Matty Cash and Joe Worrall are two who look to be attracting admiring glances from the Premier League, with Sheffield United and Burnley thought to be interested in both players.

Offloading Ribeiro wouldn’t make sense though and transferring him to Olympiacos would arguably send out the wrong message to Forest supporters.

The Greek club are looking for a new left-back after Kostas Tsimikas joined Liverpool earlier this month.

Marinakis would be wrong to send them Ribeiro though and the Portuguese performer should be kept around the City Ground for the foreseeable.
