Aston Villa look to have won the race to sign Nottingham Forest defender Matty Cash after a £16 million bid was accepted, according to The Telegraph.
Fulham, Leeds United, West Ham and Sheffield United had all been thought to be keen on the academy graduate but it’s Dean Smith who has got his man.
Cash will become Villa’s first summer signing, with the deal set at an initial £14 million, rising to £16 million with add ons.

It always seemed unlikely that the Reds would keep hold of their star man; with Financial Fair Play hanging over the club who haven’t been in the Premier League for 21 years.
The 23-year-old burst onto the scene as an attacking player at the City Ground having worked his way through the academy ranks.
Cash played 141 times for the Reds, last season developing into a tremendous right-back under the influence of Sabri Lamouchi.
Following today’s news, supporters have been quick to heap praise on Cash, with many hopeful that he will take the Premier League by storm.
It’s pretty clear from looking at Twitter that supporters wish him well even though it does come as a blow to lose him.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Forest faithful regarding Cash’s potential departure.
