Hull City are leading the chase to sign Nottingham Forest target Randell Williams, according to Team Talk.
The report claims that Forest and Huddersfield Town have both previously shown an interest in the Exeter City flyer.
It would seem as though the League One outfit are leading the chase, however, with the Tigers seeing a second bid knocked back.
It’s not claimed what Exeter are hoping to recoup for the winger and it remains to be seen whether Hull or an interested Championship party get their man.
Williams helped the Grecians to the League Two play-off final last season, losing out to Northampton Town in the showpiece occasion at Wembley.
That defeat looked to have ended any hopes Exeter had of keeping Williams, but it would appear they are standing firm at the moment.
The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes of last weekend’s Carabao Cup win over Forest Green and doesn’t appear to be instigating a move at all.
It’s easy to see why the right-sided winger is a wanted man. Last season he scored five goals and registered 14 assists, showcasing an array of skill along the way.
Forest’s interest would make sense and it would be no surprise to see another winger added to Sabri Lamouchi’s squad.
Joe Lolley and Sammy Ameobi will be the first choice options out wide, with Alex Mighten and Nuno Da Costa likely to provide competition.
Having another creative spark in a wide area wouldn’t go amiss though with both Mighten and Da Costa both finding their way at Championship level.
It doesn’t seem as though Williams is on Forest’s immediate radar, although a strong start to the season at Exeter might see them revive their interest.
