Some reports this morning have suggested that Joao Carvalho might be on his way out of Nottingham Forest – and supporters have been reacting.
According to The Athletic journalist Paul Taylor, the Portuguese youngster isn’t even training with the first-team at the moment and a buyer is being sought by the club.
The 23-year-old featured in the majority of the club’s pre-season matches and also started the Carabao Cup defeat against Barnsley.
On Saturday, however, he didn’t even make the travelling party for the game at QPR and he looks to be on borrowed time at the City Ground.
Carvalho has featured in 67 games for the Reds but neither Martin O’Neill nor Sabri Lamouchi has really fancied him as part of their plans.
During his first season playing for Forest, he scored four goals and registered eight assists as he was trusted as the creative spark by Aitor Karanka.
Following the latest news, supporters have been reacting to this news on Twitter and many are dumbfounded by the reports.
Nobody divides Forest supporters quite like Carvalho but some in this instance are perplexed at how he can be banished from the first-team without a proper chance to shine under Lamouchi.
Here is a selection of tweets from supporters who would love to see Carvalho stay.
Where did he fail? He doesn’t get a chance!! If you can’t see his obvious ability, you’re truly blind. He’s exactly what we’ve been missing, especially in this rigid system. Yates tries really hard though, so he should definitely start 👍 you’ve lost the plot.

There’s an interesting comment on there… Joao’s best game came against Boro under MoN. I don’t think he’s lit the game up as we expected or hoped. Still extremely talented but you can’t be successful in the championship with passengers, even Pereira (wba) tracked back well

How can you get the better out of him when he was never given a fair chance?

Carvalho hasn’t had a chance with Lamouchi. Lamouchi only wants grafters who work hard while playing 9 at the back, so he can bore the life out of the fans. He’s deliberately frozen out the most talented player at the club
